    Gustavo Dudamel will lead the combined forces of the Los Angeles Philharmonic and the Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra of Venezuela - joined by the Los Angeles Master Chorale, Los Angeles Children’s Chorus and community choruses - in a performance of Mahler’s Symphony No. 8, known as the “Symphony of a Thousand,” at the historic Shrine Auditorium for a spectacular performance with over 1000 musicians and singers. A roster of vocal soloists will also take part.
    The Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra of Venezuela performs multiple concerts as part of their residency for The Mahler Project. For more details on this concert, visit laphil.com.

    Bengal and Beyond will perform jazz arrangements of Bengali songs at the Bengali Film Festival, presented in cooperation with Bird and Beckett Books and Records. Bengal and Beyond are Sharmila Guha (voice), Prasant Radhakrishnan (sax), Bishu Chatterjee (bass), and Bryan Bowman (drums).

If she is picked as a finalist in this preliminary round, she will advance to the Grand Finale at Piedmont Piano Company on Saturday, March 31, 2012, for a chance to win fantastic career-advancing prizes!     The American Youth Symphony (AYS) presents a concert of Igor Stravinsky, Béla Bartók, and Danny Elfman. "Following the success of The Goldsmith Project, this is the first in a 3 year exploration of the work of four-time Oscar-nominated composer Danny Elfman. While Elfman has composed concert works as well, this is a rare opportunity to hear his film scores performed live!" Sharmila will sing in the Women's chorus singing Elfman's music, featuring selections from the scores of "Batman," "Sommersby," and "Edward Scissorhands" (includes a music to film performance).
